Baking up a storm!

Last weekend was the christmas fundraiser fair at Imogens art space and boy did we have an amazing time!
To mix it up a little I made about a zillion things for our make shift cake stall (no fair is complete without the obligatory came stall). I couldn't decide what to make initially so borrowed a friends copy of the frankie sweet treats book and please pardon the pun....went nuts!
We're talking rocky road, gingerbread men, caramel corn, toffee apples, choc peppermint cupcakes with crushed candy canes as sprinkles and fail safe fudge!
I know I'm a little being in the blogging but I promise you the photos have been taken it's just a matter of me finding the time to write the words!
Enjoy the sweetness!

and so we begin the rocky road adventure..

Again with the fatty recipes..

So i got bored of trawling the internet for design inspiration {for uni I have to design a house, great to start with but i've hit a GIGANTIC wall} and started just trawling for delicious sounding recipes, the nutella was my inspiration for this act of immenent fattiness I'm going to guess. Anyway, not the point. The point is that I love pancakes and here are two variations of your regular run of the mill pancake that I'm pretty much dying to try out. If it wasn't such a hot sunny day I would probably already be in the kitchen, frypan in hand!

Cinnamon Roll Pancakes from Recipe Girl look like a heart attack just waiting to happen but holy moly don't they look too delicious to pass on!

And then there's this one time when french toast met pancakes at tastykitchen.com...it says it all really. The two best breakfast treats combined, who could want for anything more?!

So here ends my procrastination...maybe...untill I find something else to waffle on about whilst pretending to actually do uni work. Inspiring photos for my design is a start but when the thing is due on Halloween and id worth a good 80% of my mark I'm thinking maybe I should pull my finger out...maybe.

peace out breakfast homies! xx

Study + procrastination = fatty boomsticks

So I know that it was my choice to go back to study and all that however, it's not a word of a lie when I say that the amount of procrastination that's coming out of this degree combined with the blog trawling I am doing as a result will no doubt turn me into one giant fatty. Especially when I come across blog posts like this one from icanhazcheeseburger.com....hello nutella deliciousness! See for yourself...smores-just-got-fancy

Materialistic at Reverse Garbage

What a delicious sunny afternoon!

Today has been full of surprises and treats so far, all of which I am going to share because I'm just that kind of person today.

First of all, my knee was free-ed from the prison of bandages and leg brace that it has been ensconsed in for the past two weeks post surgery. I tell you what, even though it's a bit of a weird feeling not having all that support around it anymore, it is SUPER nice to feel the sun again! {now to work on that summer tan...fake style of course!}

So in between that and then my physio appointment {not the most fun} Mum and I went down to the city to have a furkle around and landed ourselves in the L'Occitane shop. Let me just say if you havn't treated yourself it really is divine and smells SO good. They have two new moisturisers for spring, cherry blossom and orange blossom and a new peony fragrance - all amazing. I got myself a new lip gloss from the spring range and some awesome shea butter hand cream, love a good hand cream.

Then after physio {pain pain} mum and I quickly popped into Reverse Garbage where I found out that all the stock I took in a few weeks ago was being saved for the Materialistic exhibition that opens on Saturday night! Along with my old faithful zipper creations there are also newly created vintage button necklaces, leather earrings and vintage fabric gift cards. There is also a blog post about the show over on the BrisStyle blog where you can read more about it and see some of the other types of pieces that will be on display and for sale.

So if you're around on Saturday evening and find yourself without a plan, head down to 'Reverse Emporium', the new gallery space at Reverse Garbage to check out the show!

Friday fun times

Friday morning saw Trudy and I setting up our little worlds at the Bleeding Heart Gallery Markets. Initially the table was an issue, but not for long seeing as we're both so clever!

Across the way was the lovely Kim Aitken who makes the most lovely ceramics {my mum got a lovely glossy lemon yellow bowl for mothers day and grandma is getting floral bread and butter/ cupcake plate for her birthday!}. Her daughter Alex was there to keep her company which was so nice {she also was an admirer of my new leather earrings so obviously we were immediately friends!}. Kim has a cube in the gift shop at Bleeding Heart but she also sells at the Boutique Markets at Portside .

Next door I made a new friend in Ella from Little Lala jewellery. We bonded over novels, fantasy or space? And the ins and outs of peroxiding your hair. I couldn't help myself and bought some of her fantastic mineral eye shadow and talked my housemate into buying another colour, so we could share obviously!

my place!

trudys place!

mini heart bunting, if you like it you can have it, i'm sick to death of seeing it!

these are my latest sucess, leather heart stud earrings. I'm thinkikng of other shapes to try as my mum seems to think that not everyone likes to wear hearts {?!}, i thought maybe triangles? thoughts?

handfulls of new colours in the zipper rosettes!

new art, old art

new little felt skulls, i'm going to try and make them into hair clips as well as these brooches.

It was a fun day and even though it was a little slow {not many people knew we were there} it was relaxing and gave me a chance to try out some new products, drink some great coffee and make new friends.

What have I done?!

So you may or may not know that I have taken it upon myself this year to head back to uni at the ripe old ages of 25 and start another undergrad. Crazy you say? Yes I'm aware that this is probably not the most sane thing I could have done but I will stick with it, or so I thought until my epic melt down the other day. I have an essay due today, this afternoon in fact and whilst now I'm quite calm now, getting here was not an experience I wish to have again. I somehow had forgotten what study was, and how to research properly..and even how the hell to use a library?!
Good god I'm out of practise but I went to woolies, got myself some treats and then sat them on the kitchen counter until I had finished. Essentially I could have an oreo each time I finished a paragraph (I only managed 3 in about 4 hours!!) and the magazine, well I still havn't let myself sit down and read it properly. A mere flick through the pictures is all I've had, I did cave and use the mascara though (and if anyone's wondering, it's amazing!!). A good mascara is so hard to find so when you stumble on a winner it's fantastic, a free one even better!
