With the art making that is, not with the drinking of the booze!
I'm sleepy and super un-motivated to write about these newest photos except to say that I desperately need to acquire more colours and definitly am changing what I initially wrote as my brief for the exhibition...you can't restrain creativity!!
Here's what I got up to Saturday arvo, rubber gloves on and sweet tunes blaring!
I know this was a couple of days ago now but I have only just got organised enough to get these happy snaps off my phone and onto my computer.
This is just a quick message to all, if it looks like rain and you're heading to the markets you MUST take an umbrella and you MUSTN'T wear shoes! (as modelled soggily here by my mate, mid vegie shop)
and this here is just a super cute cover from some sheet music I was shuffling through, not because I can play any musical instrument overly well but more because I was trying to stay relatively dry and this stall, being for books and such, had the least amount of holes in the tarp roof!
So Kerryn's blaming me for this, I blame her. Purely out of principle and the fact she can judge ALL she wants but that will never stop me from loving Fuel...ever.
So here they are, my top 10 {very painstakingly chosen over the course of two and a half days} guilty pleasure songs. Like Kerryn, I am in no way actually ashamed of my choices, I just feel like the "cool kids" aka the ill fitting clothes wearing too much arse showing hipsters would gasp at and judge me for them. I'm not old kids, I'm just classy!
Jackson Browne - Rosie
It's lovely, so I love it. Perhaps it has some kind of emotional attachment to it, perhaps it doesn't, you'll never know. It makes me wish I could have been a groupie, occasionally.
George Michael - Faith
Yeah I said it.
And you know what, I like the Limp Bizkit versions too.
Take that!
Rick Springfield - Jessies Girl
I know every single word to this song and can air guitar the shit out of it. It's my karaoke song and if I've had a couple, forget about getting me to leave the dance floor if this comes on! The Everclear version is also very good.
Ke$ha - Tik Tok
Like the title of this post says, GUILTY pleasure people!! It sickens me that I enjoy this song but what can I do!?
Hanson - Mmm Bop
I know that Kerryn secretly wanted to add this to hers too so this is a little shout out to her. This song makes me feel like I'm 12 again and let me tell you, I wanted to be the drummer so bad! I know most girls just wanted to be Zacs girlfriend but not me baby, I wanted to take those drumsticks and prove that girls do it better always!
{I am in no way talented enough to actually BE a drummer, I just like the idea...a lot!}
Journey - Don't stop believing
Glee ruins everything, this is a classic.
J. Geils Band - Centrefold
You know you secretly enjoy this, you all do! And i'm not just talking about the video clip!
John Mellencamp - Jack and Diane
I'm completely aware of just how awful this one is and I'm preparing myself for the onslaught from a certain couple of work colleagues. You know what guys, do your worst because I love this song, it's SO uber corny and ridiculous and that's what's great about it.
Ultimate Caos - Casanova
I have no words, except that when I remembered I had this on my itunes it went on the playlist, instantly.
Bangles - Walk like an Egyptian
It was so hard to pick just one bangles song but in the end it had to be this one, if for nothing else but the leotard right at the beginning!
God I wish I had been a teenager in the 80's.
Not really like a fox, more like a little kid. The christmas fair at Imogens ArtSpace went off without a hitch. It was super fun with the crafting table and the musical entertainment, the mini markets and the cake stall. Even though it was a wee bit rainy and miserable we still managed to party, bare foot and on a sugar high!
It's been a while but I promise I've been working on important things and not just lazing about! Not only has uni started {which I am super excited about and have since discovered I am SUCH a closet nerd!} but there a few exciting things in the pipeline ready to explode into reality...in a week or two so watch out!
This last week had been a wee bit rough with starting uni and mister matthew being away for work but we got there and all's going to be ok. I got an amazing amount of credit from uni from my prior degree which cut three quarters of and year off my new one, Soundwave was on saturday and was simply fantastic, I found out another one of my friends is having a baby AND I got to do a special gift wrapping etsy send off for lovely Katie in the UK who was sending to her sister here in Australia.
the lovely sunny location of my new uni!
delicious gift wrapping {i hope you like it girls!}
Soundwave in floral, can you dig it? haha! gosh it was fun!
It was going to be a long hot summers day, the humidity was through the roof. But we packed our sunscreen, umbrellas and suitcases and headed on down to St Jeromes Laneway Festival to show the world that suitcase rummagers are made of the tough stuff!
Such an awesome day out, hanging out with the coolest kids {Trudy and Sarah-Jayne}, making new friends {Jeremy and another Sarah!}, delicious nachos, free fairy floss, amazing people watching and some alright music {i'm not going to hide the fact i'm not a massive fan of the scene, but i'll admit that I still had fun times}. All in all it was an awesome opportunity and even though there weren't huge sales made it was a great day!
Keeping shaded..but still smiling!
Paper cuts {Trudy} and zipper jewelry {Me}, neighbours.
Next door was Jeremy with more zines than you could poke a stick at,
and on the other side of Sarah-Jayne, Sarah with the Tell Tale zine and cupcakes!
Loving the free fairy floss...
and the not as free nachos.
Watching over the crowd and trying to catch a peek at the main stage {in the background}.
They were pretty alright.
There are more photos of the day, including our wee markets section on Laneway at Flickr.
And loving this song! It's inspired me for new accessories. They're in the works and all summery and bleached denim and bubblegum colours...I can't wait!!!
My name is Morgan, I live in sunny {most of the time} Brisbane and love a good gin & tonic.
Creating things people like to look at, wear and have around them is what I love to do and red licorice, pretty shoes, skinny flat whites, chocolate icecream, playing hockey and a really good baked cheescake are other loves of my life.
This is my place to show whoever is watching cool things I find and pretty things I create. I hope you enjoy xx
The thing I love most is finding something special and using it to make another something special or being inspired to create something totally new.
When I have the time or am asked by a friend I love to draw and paint with archival inks on beautiful paper to create works that will hopefully be loved by those who hang them in their homes.
I also love to create jewelery and homewares from upcycled and pre-loved objects, giving something a new lease on life is pretty exciting in itself. These pieces I sell at my shop on etsy.com, at the Reverse Garbage gift shop in Brisbane and at local markets.
I like to think of it all as organically abstract.
