Echos gift shop

Just back from my road trip and it's time to re stock the new gift shop at the new reverse garbage store in Woolongabba. I took down some of my new vintage fabric purses, leather heart shaped earrings and also a bunch of my zipper earrings and brooches.

Reverse Garbage re-opens next week the 21st of Feb at
20 Burke St
Woolongabba
and opening night is Saturday the 26th.
Hope to see you all down there!

That time I went solo.

This weekend I took a road trip, solo, down to Coffs Harbour. It was my cousins 18th and I was the only cousin who was able to show for this side of the fam. Anyway, a boys 18th, in the country, with 44 gallon drums for fires, marquee tents for the TV to be safely under {for the footy}, more eskies than you could count, party pies and sausages in bread. A great night.

I hit the beach at my grandmas and a retro shop or two in Bangalow, nearly got run off the road by a truckie and had a issue with the in flight music, here are some happy snaps of the trip!

My in flight music...ipod style

The pub, i didn't go.

Road trippin'!

Awesome retro shop on the road out of Bangalow.

Damn truckie

In flight meals...bbq shapes style.

Love the beach,

and love my grandma!

So there it is, not an overly productive few days but a fun fun time! I wish that I'd had a couple more days at the beach, that is all.

And then came Sunday.

And with Sunday came the first real size suitcase rummage for the year. It was also hot, with a slight rain panic at about 1pm followed by boost juice and sushi.
As always it was a fun day, a great catch-up day and awesome bargains day!

Our set up, the posse from Laneway + one Laura friend.
the bargain of the century! ..the cutest shoes in the world!

Would you care for a moo card?

{all new stock including cushions, love bunting, earrings and purses can be found at under the stairs studio on etsy shortly}

Weekend shenanigans.

It was going to be a long hot summers day, the humidity was through the roof. But we packed our sunscreen, umbrellas and suitcases and headed on down to St Jeromes Laneway Festival to show the world that suitcase rummagers are made of the tough stuff!

Such an awesome day out, hanging out with the coolest kids {Trudy and Sarah-Jayne}, making new friends {Jeremy and another Sarah!}, delicious nachos, free fairy floss, amazing people watching and some alright music {i'm not going to hide the fact i'm not a massive fan of the scene, but i'll admit that I still had fun times}. All in all it was an awesome opportunity and even though there weren't huge sales made it was a great day!

Keeping shaded..but still smiling!
Paper cuts {Trudy} and zipper jewelry {Me}, neighbours.

Next door was Jeremy with more zines than you could poke a stick at,

and on the other side of Sarah-Jayne, Sarah with the Tell Tale zine and cupcakes!

Loving the free fairy floss...

and the not as free nachos.

Watching over the crowd and trying to catch a peek at the main stage {in the background}.

They were pretty alright.

There are more photos of the day, including our wee markets section on Laneway at Flickr.

Waiting on the floods to come...

In case you're un awares, Brisbane has been hit with some serious rain this past few weeks and only yesterday Toowoomba was devestated by an 8 meter wave of water that exploded from the storm water drains and tore through the main streets (there are still people missing and sadly lives have been lost).
In the next 2 days the flood waters are supposed to hit us in Brisbane and while the Brisbane river is already at incredible highs it is still to rise, near to 4 metres which will put us in a worse situation than the floods in 1974.

So, with the day off with (I thought) 4 days work to follow I was taking it easy. Then I got the phone call from. Nope, sorry we'll be closed for at least the next 2 days (did I mention that Friday is supposed to be the day when the worst will happen?), call us on Friday and see how it's going. That's when the wine came out and since then i've been doing some 'flood craft'. I know it sounds bad  but there really is nothing that we can do except sit and wait (and not drive anywhere!) to see if we're affected by the immenent rising water and with the high tides tonight tomorrow may be different. But for now, it's flood craft and wine drinking time!

stay safe xx

New brooches on etsy!

New blog friends and treasuries!

So in case you didn't see them yet I've added three new pieces to Etsy, i'm doing it gradually with my new set so keep an eye on  Under the stairs studio .
The new ones have been up for less than a day when my absolute favourite brooch i've ever made was featured in a new denim inspired treasury by lovely Chi from Bon and Chi. She also featured my wee little shop on her blog here, how thoughtful!

New year = new posting regime.

Hi all,
Firstly, good god I've been atrocious at keeping this up to date lately! Seriously, I'm bordering on boring here and that is not what I want to see and I'm betting you definitely aren't keen on that either!

I have no excuses either, just slack, plain as can be.

SO...

To get the ball rolling on what I'm hoping will be a productive, fun and potentially sunny {sunny too much? how about not rainy?} year ahead I'm going to go ahead and list what I'm looking forward to...In dot point style of course.
  1. Going back to uni! I'm scared as hell but am so glad I've finally decided what I think my lot is in life that I'm willing to take on all those 17 year olds out there thinking they can rag on the old bird in the front row! Listen closely kids, I'm a mature age student and I'll ask all the flippin' questions I want! {I also can't get enough of delicious stationary and now have a ACTUAL excuse to buy some!!}.
  2. Moving out {again} but this time with the ladies, looking forward to girlie nights in with wine and god awful chick flicks you just can't watch without ridiculous amounts of ridicule in a boy house.
  3. Smashing it out at the gym, gotta get the butt into shape just in case that sun ever decides to shine on down at us again!
  4. Visiting my sister in Sydney as she tackles her newest hurdle, NIDA!
  5. And finally, because it is only the 4th of January after all, getting a new CD player for my car. My current one is just too temperamental.
Well then, I hope you all had wonderful christmas' and new years celebrations and that you're not all back at work yet {unlike some of us}. Hope to hear all about what you're looking forward to and fingers crossed I don't get slack again!!

turning over a new leaf.

Christmas? WHEN??!

I don't know about you but I love christmas...I also am freaking out that I only have all of 3 days to get sorted! I've got pressie tage to make, presents to wrap, ginger bread reindeer to package!
I also will be the first one to admit that of late I have been particularly slack with this here blog and the orders of decorations and house sitting duties have been taking up too much of my time so i'm sorry about that.
I will endeavour to be better and write more rather than just post random photos (rethe latest rummage...my bad).

Here are some photos of what's been keeping me so busy though...ginger bread men for work peeps and the first christmas stocking I have ever made, specially for my main man Matt  {hearts}.

baking..

baaaakiiing....

sucess!!

delicious christmasy goodness!

Just a few photos to get you interested!
