Online shopping = epic fail

And only a failure in the 'my credit card is going to die a horrible death' type failure from being used tooooooo  much. It's only because I'm not allowed out into the realm of people yet because I'm all laid up with the crutches and the leg brace. Honestly though, what could be more fun than an afternoon on the sunny back deck, tea in one hand, a plethora of online deliciousness at the finger tips of your other?!

I've been good so far and only window shopped but I know it's only a matter of time so until then, here are some of the more inviting and exciting finds i'm trying to decide between.

LOVE these silk tops by rachel rose on etsy! They're handpainted and come in all different colours, it's so hard to choose just one.
{rachelrose}

Ah, they have deer on them and they keep you toasty in the winter...do they need to tick anymore boxes?
{modcloth.com}

I could wear this anywhere!
{modcloth.com}
Possibly the most amazing ballet flats I have seen ever in the whole entire universe! Stupidly over priced but the doesn't change the fact that I am in love!
{anthropologie.com}

Got to get ready for summer at some point and what better way to do that than with this pretty pretty one piece? Also from mod cloth

So i'm sure tomorrow there will be another bout of online window shopping but for now, it's dinner time and then some good ole mid week crime TV!

Peace out lovers!

So the accident happened..

and then came the operation.

hello knee reconstruction, how are you today?

so folks, i'm in a giant leg brace and bandages for another week and a half and then it's ola knew knee!

In the mean time my sister is up from Sydney to 'care' for me (tomorrow is cheap tuesday so we're thinking of hitting the video store and getting pizza and other treats that would be regarded as reckless eating as way of 'caring' for me).
She who is the photography extraodinaire is going to help me photograph all my new bits and pieces to pump up my etsy shop again and reinvigorate my facebook page and I have a feeling this bloggin' thing is going to get a work out because I've already watched three serisouly BAD movies and become slightly addicted to Vampire Diaries AND nearly run out of books and magazines to read...i've only been out of hospital 6 days tomorrow...
from FrenchFrouFrou on etsy

So please, if you have any ideas, any at all that will keep me from gnawing my leg off in a fit of crazy brought on by boredom DO NOT hesitate to swing it my way.

Until next time chicas!

New exhibition

Ola tiny dancers!!

So today has been a wee better and for that I finished my first of a few new pieces I have been working on for a group exhibition I will be in later this month. This is the second of hopefully an ongoing annual show, the first one was held last year at the Circle Gallery in West End.

Anyway, so here it is, the finished piece all framed up and ready to go. It's not the most amazing photograph in the world but please let me know what you all think!

So if you're interested, the opening night is August 27th from 4pm,

Circle Gallery in West End, Brisbane.

Had an accident...

Ok well the bike ride went all fine and dandy but then just over 2 weeks ago I decided to go and snap a major ligament in my knee playing hockey...hello knee reconstruction how are you today?

Yeah I know, sport = injuries, but not always! And now I have to sit around which is fine for a time but then TV starts to get boring and the reality of the reckless cookie eating and lack of ability to exercise kicks in...sad face.

This may mean that I will blog more, it might also mean that I become particularly slack on this side of things because I'm now about 3 weeks behind at uni and freaking out about it!

On the plus side we still managed to hit the Red Hill Fair with our wares and have loads of fun, many a steak sandwich, brownies and coffees and perhaps a wee bit too much sun. But with the lovely day and the stray baby goats and sheep wandering the park when we arrived to set up it was a pretty awesome day, despite the crutches and leg brace!

{photos are coming, of the fair, not the knee!}

Bicycle times

P.S
I'm riding my bike to work for the first time EVER today and I'm nervous as anything and think that I'm probably leaving far too much time to get there {safe!} and shower, coffee etc but I don't care, that's just how I am.

{lovely atumn bike photo from vintagemint.com}
Will post tonight/ tomorrow with how it all pans out, fingers crossed people!!

Birthday treats!

So generally Brisbane isn't the coldest place to live ever but I promise you, this morning is double freezing with a side of frostbite!
{perhaps I don't deal with the cold very well and may be exagerrating a teeny tiny little bit but even so, it is unusually cool for the back end of winter!}

But last night I recieved a super belated birthday treat in the mail all the way from Norway, which I was super looking forward to because I love reading her letters, the phone just doesn't cut it these days and hand written letters is where it's at.

Here are some quick snaps of the birthday treats I recieved, all handmade and extra lovely because of it!

Although the feather necklace will have to wait for a special occasion, the friendship bracelet was put on immediatley and from now until forever will only be taken off for showers.

Well hello nanna!

It was my day off and i'm treasuring those days off as uni goes back all too soon! However, this one was spent sewing and pinning, ironing, baking and generally being a wee bit suzie homemaker.

Working on finishing the vintage cushions and testing out covering gift cards with vintage fabric whilst vanilla butter cookies bake and cher is rollin' with the homies on tv {clueless, in case you were clue less...}.

 vintage fabric covered gift cards...they're a work in progress.

 it doesn't look organised but I know where everything is..

all packed and ready to go!

May I just remind you...

That it is FRIDAAAAY!

and regardless of the fact that I have to work until stupid o'clock tonight i'm still excited because

a) I get to spend it with one lovely Laura face from kit and nancy fame.
b) I get to see Parades tonight, for free!...whilst getting paid!!

AND

c) I just found the cuteset shirt in the universe and if I wasn't so skint it would most definitly be my next purchase!

So lets get on with it and ice the cake that was this week!

Don't you know, things will change, if you go your way?

Can you hold on for one more daaaay?

So today I slept in, for the third day in a row {i know, i know, lazy lazy!} but then hit the cinema for the first time in probably 2 months and saw Bridesmaids. Now I realise that I'm probably a little late getting on this bandwagon but OH MY GOD! I have not laughed in a movie that much in I can't remember how long! Seriously my cousin and were pretty much rolling down the aisles with laughter, I might have the beginnings of a six pack just from the laughing I swear.
To top it all off probably one of my most favourite songs ever featured in a HUGE way, so good!

Anyway, when I got home I was all pumped from the movie and the music and the cupcakes and the coffee and the frozen cokes so I sat my self down in front of the sewing machine which is what I've been meaning to do teh WHOLE of the past three days off and actually made the first of the many vintage fabric cushions I have planned for the up and coming Red Hill Fair {July 30th!}.

First time I've ever put a zipper in anything and I don't have tickets on myself or anything but I am an actual genius! See for yourself!

Ta Daa!

Anyway, like I said, the first of many. All vintage, including the zipper!

I also finished off another button necklace creation, this time in green! What do you think?

I cannot wait for the fair, more on that in my next post!

Worst blogger ever

It's true, i'm not sure how long it's been but I think I can safely say minimum one whole month since I last posted. My bad.

But I have been busy, I swear! Exams. Uni. Work. etc. you know the drill.

Now though I have new things to show and some old ones that I'm falling for again.

enjoy.

 this will soon be a necklace, similar to the one below.

 just picked up some stock from the Bleeding Heart gift shop, this was always one of my favourites.

along with this one :)

Window shopping

The best kind of window shopping is the online version, particularly when it's as rank outside as it is today here in Brisbane town!

So as I chug through writing up my study notes {stupid exams next week...i hate exams!!!}, I'm treating myself to a wee bit of online window shopping every now and again.

Here's what I've come up with so far...

this is Peony from sleepy king on etsy, i'm looking for a friends baby shower and this seems pretty cute for a new baby girl right?
on etsy have these awesome necklaces made from upcycled jersey fabric. I already have earrings in black but I seriously am considering adding this one to my collection!

 Must have. that is all.
Don't go and find it at Brianarose on etsy, because I want it.

 just a little skull action for my inner emo from Michelle Chang Jewelry

Check out Stay Gold Mary Rose on etsy for these fantastic vintage teacup bracelets! Now i'm not big into the bracelet thing but these are too awesome!

Full steam ahead!

Under the Stairs Studio is now on facebook!

I caved to the pressure and now you can find {and buy} my wee brooches and earrings at Under the Stairs Studio, facebook style.

This is usually where the most up to date and most recent creations can be found, including all the new bits and bobs that have come from my foray into leather!

these bronze babies are there, along with many others xx

Just a touch of new lovliness

I have had a little bit of time on my hands {assignments are FINALLY finished and it's study time now for exams...so i'm using the craft to procrastinate!}. I also came across a pile of leather off cuts in my opshopping travels and thought I might give that a bit of a whirl, just to expand my repertoire. I also thought I would give the buttons another go, this time it worked out, it I do say so myself!

pretty leather heart studs in ALL the colours of the rainbow xx

 This was my first attempt and I think it worked out pretty well, there's another in the works, blue and brown, super pretty!

Red Hill Fair

Hi everyone!
Just a quick note to ask if anyone is keen to have a stall with me {or you can have your own if you are SUPER keen!} at this years Red Hill Fair?
It will be held on the last saturday in July which is the 30th of July and is always held in Woolcock park on the border of Red Hill and Ashgrove in Brisbane.
I know last year a whole crew from Bris-style were a part of the festivities and the organisers are really interested in having more handmadies, crafties and vintagies there this year too.
Please let me know asap if you're interested. It's always super fun and there's the usual cake stall, face painting, silent auctions, jumping castle, barnyard animals, hamburgers, fairyfloss, the whole bit!
The cost is $80 per stall which is why I was looking for a partner in crime, and also a partner in splitting the $80! To be honest I think if we make it look cute and fun we'll make that back easily!
I'm in the know and have insider info {having gone to this kindy as a wee one and my mum teaches there it's alllll good} so come on guys, get on board!

Click here for the facebook link to the Red Hill Fair
or here for the link to the website for last years fair to see who else was on board.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Morgan xx

it's chilli tiiiime

Chilli night is happening tonight at casa Morgan! All in the name of procrastination naturally. Chilli con carne ala Jamie Oliver, corn bread by me and home made guacamole, all we need are some icy cold coronas and we're good to go.
