Not really like a fox, more like a little kid. The christmas fair at Imogens ArtSpace went off without a hitch. It was super fun with the crafting table and the musical entertainment, the mini markets and the cake stall. Even though it was a wee bit rainy and miserable we still managed to party, bare foot and on a sugar high!
So generally Brisbane isn't the coldest place to live ever but I promise you, this morning is double freezing with a side of frostbite!
{perhaps I don't deal with the cold very well and may be exagerrating a teeny tiny little bit but even so, it is unusually cool for the back end of winter!}
But last night I recieved a super belated birthday treat in the mail all the way from Norway, which I was super looking forward to because I love reading her letters, the phone just doesn't cut it these days and hand written letters is where it's at.

Although the feather necklace will have to wait for a special occasion, the friendship bracelet was put on immediatley and from now until forever will only be taken off for showers.
It was my day off and i'm treasuring those days off as uni goes back all too soon! However, this one was spent sewing and pinning, ironing, baking and generally being a wee bit suzie homemaker.
Working on finishing the vintage cushions and testing out covering gift cards with vintage fabric whilst vanilla butter cookies bake and cher is rollin' with the homies on tv {clueless, in case you were clue less...}.

So today I slept in, for the third day in a row {i know, i know, lazy lazy!} but then hit the cinema for the first time in probably 2 months and saw Bridesmaids. Now I realise that I'm probably a little late getting on this bandwagon but OH MY GOD! I have not laughed in a movie that much in I can't remember how long! Seriously my cousin and were pretty much rolling down the aisles with laughter, I might have the beginnings of a six pack just from the laughing I swear.
To top it all off probably one of my most favourite songs ever featured in a HUGE way, so good!
Anyway, when I got home I was all pumped from the movie and the music and the cupcakes and the coffee and the frozen cokes so I sat my self down in front of the sewing machine which is what I've been meaning to do teh WHOLE of the past three days off and actually made the first of the many vintage fabric cushions I have planned for the up and coming Red Hill Fair {July 30th!}.
First time I've ever put a zipper in anything and I don't have tickets on myself or anything but I am an actual genius! See for yourself!

I also finished off another button necklace creation, this time in green! What do you think?

I have had a little bit of time on my hands {assignments are FINALLY finished and it's study time now for exams...so i'm using the craft to procrastinate!}. I also came across a pile of leather off cuts in my opshopping travels and thought I might give that a bit of a whirl, just to expand my repertoire. I also thought I would give the buttons another go, this time it worked out, it I do say so myself!

This was my first attempt and I think it worked out pretty well, there's another in the works, blue and brown, super pretty!
Just a quick note to ask if anyone is keen to have a stall with me {or you can have your own if you are SUPER keen!} at this years Red Hill Fair?
It will be held on the last saturday in July which is the 30th of July and is always held in Woolcock park on the border of Red Hill and Ashgrove in Brisbane.
I know last year a whole crew from Bris-style were a part of the festivities and the organisers are really interested in having more handmadies, crafties and vintagies there this year too.
Please let me know asap if you're interested. It's always super fun and there's the usual cake stall, face painting, silent auctions, jumping castle, barnyard animals, hamburgers, fairyfloss, the whole bit!
The cost is $80 per stall which is why I was looking for a partner in crime, and also a partner in splitting the $80! To be honest I think if we make it look cute and fun we'll make that back easily!
I'm in the know and have insider info {having gone to this kindy as a wee one and my mum teaches there it's alllll good} so come on guys, get on board!

Friday morning saw Trudy and I setting up our little worlds at the Bleeding Heart Gallery Markets. Initially the table was an issue, but not for long seeing as we're both so clever!
Across the way was the lovely Kim Aitken who makes the most lovely ceramics {my mum got a lovely glossy lemon yellow bowl for mothers day and grandma is getting floral bread and butter/ cupcake plate for her birthday!}. Her daughter Alex was there to keep her company which was so nice {she also was an admirer of my new leather earrings so obviously we were immediately friends!}. Kim has a cube in the gift shop at Bleeding Heart but she also sells at the Boutique Markets at Portside .
Next door I made a new friend in Ella from Little Lala jewellery. We bonded over novels, fantasy or space? And the ins and outs of peroxiding your hair. I couldn't help myself and bought some of her fantastic mineral eye shadow and talked my housemate into buying another colour, so we could share obviously!

It was a fun day and even though it was a little slow {not many people knew we were there} it was relaxing and gave me a chance to try out some new products, drink some great coffee and make new friends.
I don't know about you but I love christmas...I also am freaking out that I only have all of 3 days to get sorted! I've got pressie tage to make, presents to wrap, ginger bread reindeer to package!
I also will be the first one to admit that of late I have been particularly slack with this here blog and the orders of decorations and house sitting duties have been taking up too much of my time so i'm sorry about that.
I will endeavour to be better and write more rather than just post random photos (rethe latest rummage...my bad).

The thing I love most is finding something special and using it to make another something special or being inspired to create something totally new.
When I have the time or am asked by a friend I love to draw and paint with archival inks on beautiful paper to create works that will hopefully be loved by those who hang them in their homes.
I also love to create jewelery and homewares from upcycled and pre-loved objects, giving something a new lease on life is pretty exciting in itself. These pieces I sell at my shop on etsy.com, at the Reverse Garbage gift shop in Brisbane and at local markets.
I like to think of it all as organically abstract.
