Getting SO good at procrastination

I think it might just turn into an art. On the upside I have just spent the last couple of hours getting re-aquainted with the old friend etsy and have made my newest treasury with a school/ uni theme no less! Please check it out, see what you think..."back to school"

Ride to conquer cancer

Hi everyone out there in the blog universe,

In case you hadn't heard on the grape vine, I will be participating in an event called The Rio Tinto Ride to Conquer Cancer in a team called the Sprocket Rockets (mum picked the name!) with my mum, dad and youngest sister. The money we raise will be benefiting the Queensland Institute of Medical Research, worldwide leader in cancer research and discovery. Through this event, I can help prevent other families from having to struggle with this disease.

The Rio Tinto Ride to Conquer Cancer is a 2-day bike ride, over 200 km, throughout Queensland scenic countryside from August 20-21. Crazy, uh?! Me, riding 100 km two days in a row, with thousands of other people. As you can image, riding that far is not going to be a simple feat for me. I'll have to train and get in shape. But I'm excited that I can finally do something this big in the fight against cancer.

I hope you all can understand why this is so important to me.. My goal is to raise $2500 and I really hope some of you at there might be able to help me get there or hey, even beat it. It's hard asking my family and friends for money believe me! But this cause and this event are very important to me. I hope that you can donate $50, or as much as you are able. I figure if everyone on my list donates $50, I'll meet my goal. All the proceeds benefit the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and will move us forwards in the race to hopefully conquer cancer.

Today being April 6th is actually what we call Epic Impact Day. It’s one day with one simple goal: to have everyone make an epic impact in the conquest of cancer. Whether it’s $10 or $10,000, the money you raise will be put to immediate use by the Queensland Institute of Medical Research, a worldwide leader in cancer research and discovery.

Epic Impact Day is THE day to show your support for the cause. Encourage your friends and family to do their part in the battle to end cancer and give from the heart on Epic Impact Day, April 6.

If you feel like you might want to donate, whether it be money or time as Crew or as a new rider to join our team please take a look at my Ride blog on the official website. There you can follow links to donate, get mroe info or just look at some of the awesome photos and video from last years ride!

Please pass this link on to anyone you might think would be interested even just to know about the ride, the more who know, the better chance we;ve all got!

I feel I have let you down ole' blue.

for this is what happens when I don't do suitcase rummage for 2 whole months (!!) because someone crazily decided to go back to uni and then shit hit the fan with the boy and things weren't functioning so hot for a while there. Well, never fear! Ole' blue will be back in action soon enough with new bits and bobs, keep an eye out for phat (that's right, phat with a ph!) felty necklaces and new vintage style cushions to use however you please!

I will also be making an appearance at the newly instated Bleeding Heart Markets on May 6th with one lovely lady who goes by the name Trudy Florence. It's going to be a most awesome day and more info will come very soon so keep your eyes peeled!

For now though it's peace out tiny dancers!! Time for a bit of good wine and crap TV!

All I want for christmas is...

... or just plain cos i'm wishing hard for it!

see more wishes at my work aka GoMA (the gallery of modern art if you're not 'hip to the groove' like nanna here!

A friend to stay

Late last week we had a wee friend come and stay the night, her owner friend had to go out of town for work so Molly became my study buddy! She's pretty cute stuff, even if she is a teeny tiny little bit not the brightest crayon in the box...

she definitly helped me study though, first exam in 8 years (and i'm pretty I only got three questions wrong) , check!

My week in 6 - revisited!

SO this week has been a nightmare in regards to uni work and i've JUST handed in assignment number 1 for the fortnight and am allowing myself a wee bit of indulgent internet trawling and cyber faux shopping (faux because I don't actually have any cash to spend that's not plastic and we all know that's a slippery slope!).

Fisrt off I stopped by ModCloth and stumbled upon possibly the most amazing cardigan ever!
nautical themed AND sequins?! what could be better right?
well....

also found on ModCloth this dress also got a sneaky look in because it's just SO cute, i'm not sure how well it would go no we're headed into autumn/winter but I could probably save it until spring or get out the black tights!

Over to Princess Polly then and who doesn't love a good playsuit?!

Topshop came next even though I know the likelyhood of my actually buying anything from there is ridiculous, a girl can dream! And dream I did!!

So innapropriate but so so so sooooo fabulous!!
And I couldn't even find these ones in the shop online but just had to add them in even if they were just the banner image for the shoe department!

Finally, even though my nails are well in need of a manicure I thought I would share my newest (and possibly pretty shameful but you judge silently!) girl crush...and her awseome new nail polish colours from OPI.

i do love her.

and if anyone knows where I can get my hands on these babies please don't hold out on a girl!

All jazzed up!

I promised I would and today I came through. I hit up the Bleeding Heart Gallery this morning for coffee and to jazz up my little cube of fancy. With my handmade 'pin board' of a picture frame and pretty paper to pin my brooches on and the addition of my hand drawn cards (think deers and bunnies!) it's looking waaay better than when I first put my stuff in! I also was lucky enough to borrow some awesome vintage fabric to line the bottom of my cube with to give it little more of a 'homely' feel. Think creams, browns, roses and a shock of turquoise! (photos are just NOT paying justice to it all, i'm going to have to re-think my camera choice that's for sure..)
I may also have acquired a cute wee lemon coloured ceramic bowl for my dresser, I think it will become a new home for my ring collection (photos will have to come later though because I had to dash of down the coast to uni and am currently updating my blog on the library computers, suck it other studious people!).

Hope you can pop by soon xx

Loved up..

So things have been rocky on the love front. Maybe more than rocky, treacherous even. However, I have great mates, a new self imposed wingman (i didn't have a choice), an awesome lot of support and a butt load of new TV to watch! I also was treated to a 'breakup' brownie care of one Laura Mitchell (kit and nancy fame). The photos aren't fabulous but I promise you it tasted MORE than fab!!

delicious dark choc brownie with raspberries AND cherry ripe!!

My lovely housemate Erin also gave me breakup treats in the shape of hilarious animal chocolates. The look crazy but god they were delicious! (and made it hurt just that little less for a moment)

What have I done?!

So you may or may not know that I have taken it upon myself this year to head back to uni at the ripe old ages of 25 and start another undergrad. Crazy you say? Yes I'm aware that this is probably not the most sane thing I could have done but I will stick with it, or so I thought until my epic melt down the other day. I have an essay due today, this afternoon in fact and whilst now I'm quite calm now, getting here was not an experience I wish to have again. I somehow had forgotten what study was, and how to research properly..and even how the hell to use a library?!
Good god I'm out of practise but I went to woolies, got myself some treats and then sat them on the kitchen counter until I had finished. Essentially I could have an oreo each time I finished a paragraph (I only managed 3 in about 4 hours!!) and the magazine, well I still havn't let myself sit down and read it properly. A mere flick through the pictures is all I've had, I did cave and use the mascara though (and if anyone's wondering, it's amazing!!). A good mascara is so hard to find so when you stumble on a winner it's fantastic, a free one even better!

my study buddy..!

Bleeding Heart new-ness!

Hurrah! I've finally got my act together and taken some treasures down to the gift shop at Bleeding Heart Gallery on Ann St in the city (Brisbane city that is...)

Now I wasn't 100% sure how to display or what was available so please don't judge too harshly when you see my initial photos. I'm heading back in hopefully today with some vintage picture frames and floral fabric (care of the waaay to generous Laura from Kit and Nancy) to do some sprucing up of my cube. I will also be adding some hand drawn cards to the mix so please head down and check me out. I promise you will find somethinhg that excites whether is be the delicious crafting, the artwork or just a really good coffee!

Well this is a hard one but the first single saturday in three and a half years I felt should be documented, regardless. This is my choice of nail colour to spend this day with, love it!

Gift wrapping and exciting times

It's been a while but I promise I've been working on important things and not just lazing about! Not only has uni started {which I am super excited about and have since discovered I am SUCH a closet nerd!} but there a few exciting things in the pipeline ready to explode into reality...in a week or two so watch out!

This last week had been a wee bit rough with starting uni and mister matthew being away for work but we got there and all's going to be ok. I got an amazing amount of credit from uni from my prior degree which cut three quarters of and year off my new one, Soundwave was on saturday and was simply fantastic, I found out another one of my friends is having a baby AND I got to do a special gift wrapping etsy send off for lovely Katie in the UK who was sending to her sister here in Australia.

the lovely sunny location of my new uni!

delicious gift wrapping {i hope you like it girls!}

Soundwave in floral, can you dig it? haha! gosh it was fun!
