Getting ready to rummage..

The weekend before rummage and I'm madly trying to make new brooches etc because I'de been fairly well bought out since the last one and it looks like i'm house sitting for a friend of mums. No problem at all, the dog is inclined to chew through anything that's left lying around but she's tiny so put it up high and you're laughing.
So off I went, all packed, with my craft under one arm and the over night bad in the other not 100% sure what I was getting myself into. Turns out though, an awesome time! With a cute as hell puppy, more kids movies than I could wrap my head around on tap and delicious pizza place right up the road who wouldn't be!!

The biggest garage sale on the north side...

Samford baby! Mum and I hit this one up last year aswell and I tell you what, this year was possibly just as good, if not better in the treasure stakes!! I got myself a HUGE load of old school kids books with the likes of The Magic Pudding, Peter Rabbit, The Bearnstein Bears, The House at Pooh Corner, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and all manner of little golden books...and MINI little golden books (that I didn't even know existed!!) all for the low low price of $11.

Because I have a miniscule foot I managed to squeeze into the raddest heels on earth, for 5 bucks no less! My sister wasn't so lucky with her bargain and they fell apart on her that afternoon when she wore them out, bugger. Lucky mum was around for an emergency pick up and shoe change!

I found the sweetest wee cut glass icecream dishes and some awesome doilies to add to the collection but I must say the find of the day stayed behind. As much as it saddens me I'm just not convinced my boyfriend would have been as pleased as I was with the pink velvet lounge suite with timber frame golden fringing...and so it got left behind.

This is one of my favourite new pieces that i've just put up on etsy. I honestly don't think I will ever find a zipper as cool or as colourful as this one ever again and it saddens me. Meanwhile, you can all have a wee look see here or over at my etsy shop Under the stairs studio.



Sunday, sunday..

A weekend of garage sales, church fetes, crafting, manual labour, trial and error, spag bowl, red wine, failed singstar attempts, the grand canyon, miss liberty herself and a lovely photography skilled sister. Here's but a taste of my epic weekend because I only have time for one upload and then I'm off to breakfast at the little larder with the sisters and the cousins, and the french toast with grilled banana and maple syrup!

What a rummage!

Even though the weather failed us and it was a fairly miserable day it was nice to see the young (and old/er) and the crafty out in force last weekend. There was so many stalls and SO much cool stuff I just had to close my eyes as I walked by other wise it would have been a very poor Morgan going home 4 hours later!

Your organ grinder was there and so was Holly from Pannikin. I had an old friend Grace have her first turn at rummaging and was our neighbour across the way. The lovely Laura was my other neighbour and partner in crime {getting the best home-made monte carlos and macaroon treats back to our friends} and so many new friends were made as the day went by. A big shout out to Mum, who brought me coffee and Vicki who also came with sustinence in the way of the most delicious sushi in town (Ann st baby!!). There were few photo memories made as I made such an intelligent move in forgetting my camera. Luckily our international student Wei came to the rescue!

New news!

Recently a fellow colleague of mine started up an online gallery for those of us artistically inclined to be part of. It's a fantastic site and it's art of all kinds, the art of car restoration and floristry are included along side pottery, painting and photography!

My Creative Space ...

What have I been up to in the past couple of weeks? Many things, including many a trip to the op shops around town, many nights with trashy tv and tim tams and a few goes in dads workshop. And all for what I hear you ask? (or hope I'm hearing you ask..) For my return to suitcase rummage! I havn't shown my little face for quite some time and feel that since the hockey season is over (games just happened to conveniently always be on sunday) it is high time I got back into the swing of things. I'll have old stock aswell as new surprises and some others that i'm trial testing for the rummage before I make more of them. Here's a sneak peek from my 'workstation' (really an old school desk that is more often trashed and messy than organised, i like to think of it as creatively in order..haha!).

So the next rummage is Sunday October 3rd, 12 - 5pm in King George Square. If you're in the Brisbane area please stop by and say hi, have a rummage and hopefully you'll find some lovely treasures to treat yourself to.
